ARTXANDAPE SCHOOL ORCHESTRAS

In November, students in LH1 and LH2 learnt English through a project called "Veronica". The topic of this project is the orchestra.

During the project they learnt the story "Veronica, the girl who played the violin", they learnt about the musical instruments of the orchestra and about the rituals of an orchestra and they created an orchestra and performed a concert for HH2 and HH3 students. They made bow-ties to wear the day of the concert, as well as programmes and invitations to give to the audience. Besides, LH1 students made musical instruments with card in their art lessons with their tutors. Have a look at the videos of the concerts!

ON, IN and UNDER

During this unit girls and boys in LH1 have been learning about the different parts and furnitures in a house (bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, sofa, bed, bath, cupboard) and the members of the family (mum, dad, brother, sister). We have been working on the concepts in, on and under as well.

We believe that to understand something there is nothing better than putting it into practice... Here you have and example on how they learnt about this ideas.

What's the weather like?

Children in LH1 started this new year singing and dancing in the school... We've been learning about the weather and the proper clothes for each season.

Fruit Party

During this last unit, students in LH1 have been learning about food and different meals. We have also talked about party food, and we thought it was a great way to give it an end to have a real FRUIT PARTY at school.

They all brought a piece of fruit and they prepared their own fruit sticks. They all tasted different kinds of fruits: apples, bananas, oranges, melon, watermelon, strawberries, cherries, kiwi, plums…

We pretended to encourage them to have this super-healthy meal, which is really easy for kids to prepare it themselves. Try them at home, they really loved it!!

Making a town

First graders have been learning about different places in a town. To give it an end they made a town from recycled materials. They made amazing towns in both classrooms... Do you want to have a look?

Welcome to our town!

Move your body!

Children in LH1 have been learning about the human body. We have done different kind of activities and we have also learnt some songs, all about the parts of the body. To come to an end with this unit we have been working on a little project. Children have demonstrated their ability to make a puppet after learning a rhyme that helped us with the instructions...
